President Buhari returns, receives family members at Aso Rock

Nigeria’s President, Muahammadu Buhari, returned to the country Saturday 19 August. 2017, after his medical vacation in London.
Buhari had left Nigeria on 7 May, 2017 to London to attend to his failing health for an undisclosed ailment which limited his public appearance.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President( Media and Publicity) said President Buhari would address Nigerians in the morning hours of Monday 21 August 2017.
The statement reads “President Muhammadu Buhari returns to the country later today afte receiving medical attention in London. The President has left the country on May, this year, after handling over power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who has functioned as acting President since then. President Buhari is expected to speak to Nigerians in a broadcast by 7am on Monday, August 21, 2017. He thanks all Nigerians who have prayed ceaselessly for his recovery and well being since the beginning of the health challenge”
It would be recalled that leaders of the All Progressive Congress( APC) had visited Buhari in London to douse tension in the country over his health. A delegation of the Governors forum had also visited as well as the President’s media team. The Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and the Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara also few days ago.
The president was received on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by the nations political Who’s Who that included Governor Nyesome Wike, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governor of Rivers State. Crowds of Abuja well wishers lined the route from the airport into the city.
A coalition of Nigerians led by Charly Boy had during an anti- Buhari protest called on the President to resume or resign from office.
