Abbo arraign for assault


The Senator representing Adamawa North in the Senate, Senator Elisha Abbo has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court for alleged assault.

He however pleaded not guilty to the two counts of criminal assault bordering on the use of force.

The video of Abbo assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop had gone viral recently which immediately sparked a national outrage as women groups and Nigerians on Social Media demanded for his arrest forcing Abbo to issue a public apology in tears.

Abbo who was questioned and released on bail after he surrendered himself to the FCT command was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Zuba on Monday.

The Commissioner of Police FCT Command, Mr Bala Ciroma had earlier confirmed that Abbo has been taken to the Magistrate Court to arraign.

Senior Magistrate Abudullahi Ilellah granted Abbo a N5million bail and two sureties in like sum.

Abbo lawyers are trying frantically to meet the bail conditions so that the lawmaker can regain his freedom.
