2019: Buhari, Shettima Finished Politically, Says PDP Chieftain

Due to a combination of factors like poor economy, insecurity and use of propaganda for governance, Nigerians may likely vent their frustration on elected members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2019, says a political economist and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Borno State, Kudla Satumari.
He pointedly accused President Mohammadu Buhari and his state governor, Kashim Shettima of reasons why there is so much angst against the ruling party.
Satumari who spoke to Armada exclusively said the APC government controlling the center since 2015 has not only sidestepped its much talked about manifesto but has failed woefully in governance thus enmeshing Nigeria in avoidable recession and dangerous insecurity situation across the country.
He blamed the acute insecurity in the country to difficult economic situation as people are hungy, millions are getting thrown out of jobs while the economy continues to contract as investors see no need to return for investment.
According to him, three factors were responsible for the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 elections, which he named as “Nigerians’ eagerness to see something different including people who were indifference about him; he was not tested so people wanted to see what he could do.
“Also, majority of the voters in the North saw the 2015 election as war between the North and the South” thus the controversy surrounding the ways voting took place.
“He was seen as a muslim because the election saw all kinds of sentiment being expressed as all Muslims saw him as their own,” he pointed out.
He however said things would be different in 2019 as he has been seen, given opportunity and tested.
According to his prognosis, “The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party too would be a Muslim. The thought of any massive votes like 2015 won’t exist again.
“Senator Musa Kwankwaso would divide the Kano vote. The former governor of the state together with Ibrahim Shekarau would break any bloc vote from Kano State.
“Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo, both former Vice Presidents have joined forces, and so APC would not get the kind of votes they got in Kaduna in 2015 again in the upcoming election.
“Bauchi State is also slipping away from the hands of APC due to bad leadership,” he said.
He further opined that any thought of APC winning the 2019 election with the votes from the South West should not exist because, “Buhari didn’t win the 2015 election with the South West votes.
“Votes from the South West to Buhari were not up to one million.
“North West gave him the votes that he won the election but the region is being sharply divided.”
He said there has been no improvement in development in his State of Borno due to the way the Governor is playing politics with governance.
Satumari who contested for the Askira/UBA/Hawul Federal Constituency into the House of Representative on the platform of the PDP said, “The Governor is targeting PDP,” in the state.
